CityBlock’s multi million pound redevelopment of a derelict city centre site to provide quality student accommodation in Leicester will welcome its first students on Saturday.
The 76-bedroomed, purpose-built, city centre student accommodation with ground floor retail unit is next to CityBlock’s first, hugely successful development in Careys Close, which opened two years ago.
Designed by architects SSHarc and constructed by Askam Construction, who also built the first CityBlock in Leicester, the development has seen the demolition of a redundant factory building.
This has been replaced by a smart, six-storey, high spec, contemporary-styled, communal living space immediately linked to its sister building. The all-in-one fee includes internet access, daily cleaning services and contemporary communal areas with plasma TV and leather settees.
The building was officially handed over to CityBlock on Friday by the developers and will welcome its first students in time for the new academic year.
“We are delighted to announce that the site is fully booked for the next academic year too. We have other developments in other parts of the UK but we chose Leicester because we identified a real need for high end, off-campus student accommodation,” explains CityBlock CEO Trevor Bargh, the entrepreneur who founded CityBlock in 2003.
