Q: HOW DO I BOOK A ROOM?
A: Simple, click on the BOOK NOW button on this page, fill in the fields and submit your details and a member of the CityBlock team will call you.
Q: CAN I MAKE A GROUP BOOKING?
A: Yes, just let a member of the CityBlock team know when they contact you and we will do our best to ensure you are all allocated to the same flat.
Q: ARE ALL THE ROOMS EN SUITE?
A: Yes, all room types at all CityBlock locations have en suite facilities.
Q: ARE THERE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ROOMS AVAILABLE?
A: Yes, CityBlock recognise that students have different requirements and as a result want a choice with regards to their accommodation needs. With this in mind CityBlock have designed 8 different room types across our blocks to suit varying budgets.

Q: HOW MUCH IS THE RENT?
A: Room rates start from £90.21 per week and all room rates are all-inclusive to help you to budget your living expenses whilst at University.

Q: WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE RENT?
A: Included in ALL room rates:
- En suite facilities
- All utility bills (water, heating, electricity)
- Internet (NO connection fee)
- Weekly cleaning service
- All maintenance
- Lift to all floors
- Free CityBlock Privilege card (providing discounts & privileges locally)
- 24/7 emergency hotline
- On site laundry facilities
- Remote access entry system
- CCTV surveillance
- Free bike storage available

Q: WHEN DO I PAY MY RENT?
A: Rent can be paid fully in advance which qualifies you for a 3% discount or you can pay in termly instalments. See the room rates section of our website for specific dates.

Q: IS THERE A CONNECTION CHARGE FOR THE INTERNET?
A: No, 2mb of bandwidth is included in your room rate with no connection charge. This can be upgraded to 8mb for an additional charge.
Q: CAN I SMOKE?
A: No, all CityBlock accommodation is non-smoking.
Q: HOW WILL I GET MY POST?
A: Each flat within CityBlock has a communal post box and each studio has its own individual post box. All post boxes are located in the entrance foyer and are lockable.
Q: WILL MY ROOM BE CLEANED?
A: Yes, a cleaning service is included in your rent. All rooms and studios are cleaned weekly and communal areas are cleaned at least twice per week.
Q: HOW LONG IS THE TENANCY?
A: All CityBlock tenancy’s are for 50 weeks apart from CityBlock 2 Leicester which is 42 weeks for academic year 2011/2012.
Q: WHEN DOES THE TENANCY BEGIN?
A: Your tenancy will commence in September for our Lancaster properties and in July for our Leicester properties (Please note CityBlock 2 Leicester is due to open for the first time in September 2011 and so for the academic year 2011/2012 only the tenancy period will begin in September)
Q: WHAT HAPPENS TO MY REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT?
A: All deposits are protected and lodged with the Deposit Protection Service within 14 days of signing an Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement. At the end of your tenancy period, as long as your room and communal areas in your flat are in the same condition as when you moved in you will get your deposit back promptly and in full.

Q: IS THERE CAR PARKING AVAILABLE?
A: No, as all of our sites are in city centre locations we are unable to provide parking. We are always happy to advise on alternative parking options locally.
Q: IS THERE A WARDEN ON SITE?
A: CityBlock is designed for independent living. There is a member of staff available on site during normal working hours. Out of hours there is emergency security cover (including bank holidays and weekends).
Q: DO I NEED TO PAY COUNCIL TAX?
A: No, as all residents in CityBlock are students then a full exemption applies. We will ask you to provide an exemption certificate when you move in. This is readily available from your University.
Q: DO I NEED TO MOVE OUT DURING CHRISTMAS AND EASTER HOLIDAYS?
A: No, your tenancy will run for 50 weeks and the room is yours to occupy for the entire period.
Q: DO I NEED MY OWN INSURANCE?
A: Each resident is responsible for the insurance of their own personal possessions. Our preferred partner is Endsleigh Insurance who are able to offer a specialist service to our residents if requred.
Q. DO I NEED A TV LICENCE?
A: CityBlock pay for the TV licence for the communal living rooms. Students are responsible for their own individual bedroom or studio. For more information on TV Licencing visit www.tvlicensing.co.uk
Q: ARE LAUNDRY FACILITIES AVAILABLE?
A: Yes, all our blocks have 24 hour laundry facilities on site; coin operated washers and dryers with access to irons and ironing boards.
