Whether you love art, live music, great ale or beautiful views, Lancaster offers a bit of everything to enhance your time as a student.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you are staying in Lancaster for the summer, or you live here \u2013 here\u2019s a quick look at some of the upcoming events this sunshine season!<\/p>\n<p><b>This Side of the River \u2013 Saturday 28<sup>th<\/sup> June 3pm \u2013 6pm, Ryelands Park<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This Side of the River, organised by the Friends of Ryelands Park, Lancashire County Council and The Dukes, is a new project set to celebrate Lancaster in all its glory. This year Ryelands Park will see the attempt of breaking the world record of the longest fake moustache and welly-wearing conga line. The event is completely free and offers a fun-filled day for all ages! The day offers plenty of food, creativity and live music including samba-drum beats you can\u2019t help but dance along to from the fantastically unique Batala. Don\u2019t forget your moustache!<\/p>\n<p><b>OXYOPIA, Benjamin Oliver \u2013 on now until 26<sup>th<\/sup> July 2014, Ashton Memorial Gallery<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This is Oliver\u2019s first ever solo exhibition, showcasing a new series of works that trace a specific understanding of Ox-yopia, \u201can extremely heightened acuteness of the eyesight, resulting from the increased sensibility of the retina.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition is truly magical, a beautiful collection of works by this unique and forward-thinking artist. Beautiful paintings, video, sound and visuals fill the stunning venue to immerse viewers into an illusionary and perfectly put together body of work. A must-see for any students or art-lovers in the area! This magical twist on the classic story is suitable for all ages, with Williamson\u2019s Park offering the perfect backdrop for the deliciously dark journey of forest creatures, bread crumbs, edible houses and baddies. Suitable for all ages over 5 years.
