Easter Holiday Time Management | CityBlock

Happy Easter! Here at CityBlock, we hope you are enjoying the feeling of being home; including home cooked dinners, washing that mysteriously appears clean on your bed and much-needed cuddles with your pets.

However, there is a downside to the school holidays. So much free reign can be a power for extreme procrastination. That is why you need to arrange your Easter holidays to fit in both the fun of being home and the important art of revision. After all, a month may seem like a long time but soon you will be facing the exam doors and wondering how it happened so fast.

With that in mind, here are a few tips to help you manage the rest of the Easter holiday period wisely!

Be Realistic

It’s the holidays, not only do you know you need to study, but you want to have fun with family and friends you may not have seen for a while. It’s a hard balance to strike.

In which case, you need to realistic about your expectations of the Easter holidays. Obviously, you know that you won’t be able to keep up revising constantly over the four weeks, but you should be able to set some achievable goals that will make your exams a lot less stressful. Commit to an hour or two of revision a day, plan out what it is you want to revise and remember that having fun isn’t a bad thing!

Keeping it real is the secret to success over this holiday!

Self-Discipline is Key

We all know this. What some of us may not know is how to actually enforce some of that all-important self-discipline. However, there is one trick that may help you to kick the age-old habit of procrastination. It’s simple: pretend that revision is your job.

No, really! It may surprise you, but nothing is more motivating than a manager being displeased if you have no work to show for the end of the day. However, if the threat of an imaginary manager isn’t quite scary enough? Get your mum to play the part. She’ll love it and your revision will go swimmingly… or else.

Expect a Mistake or Two

In the words of Jessie J, “Nobody’s perfect.” You’re bound to make a mistake or two along your revision journey. That may be anything from misremembering a vital piece of information to studying for topics that won’t even appear on the paper. Or it may be a small spelling mistake. Either way, it happens.

It’s easy to put pressure on yourself during the exam season and create undue stress. But, if you adopt the mindset of trying hard and believing in yourself, you may be surprised by what you achieve!

An hour a day keeps the bad grades away. Or something along those lines.

The fact is, that as long as you keep up a steady and productive revision routine you will learn even if you feel like you’re not doing much. In fact, bursts of revision like this throughout the week (or day as the exams draw closer) is a great way to fool yourself that you’re not doing much at all.
